Magen's home studio is located in North Dallas and offers private instruction on piano, violin/fiddle, vocals, composition, songwriting and music theory. In addition to in-studio lessons, private lessons at the student's home are also available according to schedule and location.
Teaching Philosophy: I work with students in a fun, professional setting, focusing on advancing their technical skills and fine-tuning their ear for music. My lessons usually consist of a three-part routine including technique, theory, & performance/repertoire. I currently have a studio of 35 piano and violin students ranging from 5 years of age to older adults. I prefer to use the Nancy & Randall Faber Piano Method with my piano students and the Suzuki method with my violin students. As a member of the Dallas Music Teachers Association, I encourage all of my intermediate and advanced students to participate in events such as the annual Jazz Competition, the Dallas Symphonic Festival, the Sonatina-Sonata-Baroque Festival and the TMTA Theory Exam. I arrange two recitals for my students each year, a Holiday Recital and a Spring Recital. Young students are required to perform at both recitals and are highly encouraged to perform their piece from memory in the annual Spring Recital, hosted by Steinway Hall Dallas.
For my adult students, I arrange a specific outline according to your personal goals in music. I teach pop/rock styles, as well as classical, jazz and new age. I encourage all of my students to read music, but am open to working with adult students who would like to simply learn to play be ear.
